Abstract:

A binder has a front cover and a back cover. A first page assembly for mounting in the binder includes a first magnet. A second page assembly for mounting in the binder in an overlying relationship with the first page assembly includes a second magnet for releasably attaching the second page assembly to the first page assembly in the binder. Each one of the page assemblies may include a magnet portion, a hinge portion, and a display portion, which may be all formed as one piece. The binder has a base member, made of a magnetic material, to which the magnets are attracted to mount the page assemblies in the binder.

Abstract:

Systems and methods generally useful in medicine, cellular biology, nanotechnology, and cell culturing are discussed. In particular, at least in some embodiments, systems and methods for magnetic guidance and patterning of cells and materials are discussed. Some specific applications of these systems and methods may include levitated culturing of cells away from a surface, making and manipulating patterns of levitated cells, and patterning culturing of cells on a surface. Specifically, a method of culturing cells is presented. The method may comprise providing a plurality of cells, providing a magnetic field, and levitating at least some of the plurality of cells in the magnetic field, wherein the plurality of cells comprise magnetic nanoparticles. The method may also comprise maintaining the levitation for a time sufficient to permit cell growth to form an assembly.

A distributed fiber sensing system and method of use. The system may comprise an interrogator configured to receive a Brillouin backscattered light from a first sensing region and a second sensing region, a first fiber optic cable optically connected to the interrogator, a proximal circulator, and a distal circulator, and a second fiber optic cable optically connected to the interrogator, the proximal circulator, and the distal circulator. The system may further comprise a downhole fiber optically connected to the first fiber optic cable and the second fiber optic cable and wherein the first sensing region and the second sensing region are disposed on the downhole fiber. The method may comprise generating and launching a light pulse from an interrogator and through a first fiber optic cable to a downhole fiber and receiving a Brillouin backscattered light from a first sensing region and a second sensing region.

The disclosed embodiments include thin film multivariate optical element and detector combinations, thin film optical detectors, and downhole optical computing systems. In one embodiment, a thin film multivariate optical element and detector combination includes at least one layer of multivariate optical element having patterns that manipulate at least one spectrum of optical signals. The thin film multivariate optical element and detector combination also includes at least one layer of detector film that converts optical signals into electrical signals. Abstract:

A system is provided including a coiled tubing reel apparatus including a reel drum for storing a coiled tubing string spooled on the reel drum and a hydraulic reel drive motor that controls rotation of the reel drum. The system further includes a reel controller that determines an estimated reel back tension for a portion of the coiled tubing string between the reel apparatus and the injector based on a set of parameters related to a coiled tubing operation. The reel controller determines a target reel back tension to be applied to the portion of the coiled tubing string by adjusting the estimated reel back tension based on a historical job dataset. The reel controller then determines and sets a target hydraulic pressure of the reel drive motor to achieve the target reel back tension in the portion of the coiled tubing string.

Abstract:

A system is provided including at least one pump for pumping a fluid into a wellbore, a pressure sensor provided at a wellhead of the wellbore for measuring a backpressure of the fluid being pumped into the wellbore, and a diagnostic manager. The diagnostic manager obtains pressure data associated with a pressure signal from the pressure sensor, wherein the pressure data includes pressure measurements of the fluid over a selected time period. The diagnostic manager converts, based on the pressure data, at least a portion of the pressure signal into frequency domain. The diagnostic manager detects a change in frequency of the pressure signal in the Fourier spectrum and determines that a fault associated with the wellbore has occurred based on the changed frequency of the pressure signal.

Abstract:

An electromagnetic telemetry (EMT) system is provided. A downhole transceiver sub is coupled with a downhole tool. The downhole transceiver sub and the downhole tool positioned in a wellbore having a casing extending along a length of the wellbore. The downhole transceiver sub transmits data from the downhole tool by passing a current through the casing to radiate electromagnetic fields. An uphole transceiver sub is disposed uphole from the downhole transceiver sub. The uphole transceiver sub is operable to measure the electromagnetic fields. The measured electromagnetic fields are decoded to obtain the data from the downhole tool.
