Abstract:

Disclosed is an underwater vehicle that can be operated as a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) or as an autonomous vehicle (AUV). The underwater vehicle has a tether, which may be a fiberoptic cable, that connects the vehicle to a control console. The underwater vehicle has vertical and lateral thrusters, pitch and yaw control fins, and a propulsor, all of which may be used in an ROV-mode when the underwater vehicle is operating at slow speeds. The underwater vehicle may also be operated in a AUV-mode when operating at higher speeds. The operator may switch the vehicle between ROV-mode and AUV-mode. The underwater vehicle also has a fail-safe mode, in which the vehicle may navigate according to a pre-loaded mission plan if the tether is severed.

Free radical-curable compositions comprising a plastisol component and a copolymer containing free anhydride functionality and, optionally, other reactive diluents are provided. In particular, curable compositions employing a plastisol, preferably a polyvinyl chloride-containing plastisol, and a low molecular weight crosslinking copolymer component having free anhydride functionality and which is a partial esterification product of a terminally ethylenically unsaturated compound and a polymerizable maleic anhydride are provided. The compositions of the invention yield improved adhesives, sealants, coatings, and insulators for a wide variety of substrates and may be employed in a variety of coatings and castings. Processes for preparing cured plastisol compositions from the disclosed free radical-curable compositions are also provided.

Abstract:

A moisture removal device for compressed air lines and the like includes a connection head having a gas inlet and a gas outlet. An elongated housing having an internal cavity is threaded to the connection head and sealed thereto with O-rings such that a central distribution tube is coupled to one of the inlet and the outlet and an open end of the housing is coupled to the other. The housing contains desiccant material for removing moisture from the gas, held captive in the housing by a retention screen across the open end. The distribution tube is impermeable between its end coupled to the connection head and one or more openings at the opposite end of the housing. The gas thus flows from the gas inlet through the entire bed of desiccant material and is discharged through the gas outlet in the connection head.

Abstract:

Cargo may be optimally placed within a cargo hold using a cargo mover comprising a flexible conveyor belt extending from a ground location to a cargo hold, data defining a dimensional map of available space existing within the cargo hold for placement of cargo, a conveyor controller operatively in communication with the flexible conveyer belt and comprising packing software, and a smart loader comprising a predetermined set of scanning sensors operative to scan the cargo hold and a processor operatively in communication with the predetermined set of sensors and the conveyor controller. An interior of the cargo hold is scanned to create a dimensional map of the cargo hold and cargo placed onto the flexible conveyor belt where certain of each piece is cargo's physical dimensions are scanned. The processor compares the scanned cargo hold data set with the cargo's physical dimensions as well as with an order in which that piece of cargo will arrive at the smart loader to determine the placement of each piece of cargo. As each piece of cargo is placed into cargo hold, the smart loader continues to scan and update the dimensional map of the cargo hold to determine where each subsequent piece of cargo will be placed in the cargo hold.

Abstract:

An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), comprising one or more motors, one or more non-destructive testing data collectors, and an electro-magnet, may be used to inspect a structure to which it can magnetically attach by having the UAV approach the structure and activating the electro-magnet when the UAV is a predetermined distance to the structure to be inspected. Once maneuvered close enough to the structure to allow the electro-magnet to magnetically attach to the structure to be inspected, the UAV may be secured against the structure using the electro-magnet proximate an area to be inspected such that the non-destructive testing data collector is disposed proximate the area to be inspected. Data may then be collected using the non-destructive testing data collector.
