  • Mounting Fastener For Elelctrical Wiring Boxes

    view source
  • US Patent:
    51700131, Dec 8, 1992
  • Filed:
    Apr 26, 1990
  • Appl. No.:
    7/514688
  • Inventors:
Richard J. Borsh - Chagrin Falls OH
James A. Rajecki - Parma OH
  • Assignee:
The Lamson & Sessions Co. - Cleveland OH
  • International Classification:
    H02G 308
  • US Classification:
    174 53
  • Abstract:
An electrical outlet box is molded of plastic and includes push-in type screw receiving openings each of which is defined by rigid first and second walls having opposed semi-cylindrical faces mounted in spaced and axially aligned relationship to produce a generally cylindrical passage open at an outer end. Threads are formed about the interior of the cylindrical passage. In a first embodiment, the first wall is supported and carried substantially entirely by a resilient support wall lying in a plane generally perpendicular to the axis of the cylindrical passage. The support wall is mounted in cantilever fashion at a location spaced radially from the axis of the cylindrical passage so that the first wall can resiliently deflect away from the second wall when a screw is pushed axially into the passageway. In a second embodiment, both the first and second walls are mounted by resilient support walls to allow deflection in the manner described.
  • Fitting For Corrugated Tubing

    view source
  • US Patent:
    49899058, Feb 5, 1991
  • Filed:
    Feb 5, 1990
  • Appl. No.:
    7/475237
  • Inventors:
James A. Rajecki - Parma OH
  • Assignee:
Lamson & Sessions Co. - Cleveland OH
  • International Classification:
    F16L 3500
  • US Classification:
    285319
  • Abstract:
A fitting connection for joining plastic tubing to associated structure comprises a main fitting body having an axially inwardly extending cylindrical chamber with an inner end portion of a diameter d. sub. 1 terminating at its innermost end in a radially inward extending wall. The outer end of the chamber opens to the exterior of the body and has an open diameter d. sub. 2 which is larger than d. sub. 1 with a shoulder at the juncture between the inner and outer end portions of the chamber. Plastic tubing having a circumferential corrugation adjacent an end portion thereof extends axially into the chamber with the innermost end of the tubing abutting the wall. A retaining ring acts to retain the tubing in the fitting body and includes a sleeve received in the outer portion of the chamber with the innermost end of the sleeve in engagement with the shoulder and a plurality of resilient tabs having free ends extending toward the shoulder. Radially inward extending first detents are carried on the tabs adjacent their free ends at a location to enter into the circumferential corrugation on the tubing and radially outward extending second detents are carried on the exterior of the tabs to extend into radially open slots formed in the fitting body adjacent the shoulder for preventing axial withdrawal of the retaining ring and the tubing.
  • Plastic Electrical Box For Installation In Poured Concrete

    view source
  • US Patent:
    54203767, May 30, 1995
  • Filed:
    Aug 6, 1993
  • Appl. No.:
    8/102721
  • Inventors:
James A. Rajecki - Broadview Heights OH
Daniel J. Wanhainen - Newbury OH
  • Assignee:
The Lamson & Sessions Co. - Cleveland OH
  • International Classification:
    H02G 312
  • US Classification:
    174 48
  • Abstract:
An electrical box assembly for installation in a poured concrete building partition, such as a ceiling, comprises a base ring member including a ring body having a central through opening and radially extending mounting tabs for permitting the base ring member to be joined to a form over which concrete is to be poured during forming of the building partition. The base ring member further includes an upper edge surrounding the through opening with connection portions lying radially outwardly of the upper edge. A box cover member is provided for connection to the base ring and terminates in a lower edge with a laterally extending shoulder receiving the upper edge of the base ring member. The box cover member further includes releasable connectors joined with the connecting portions on the base ring member for maintaining the box cover member in engagement with the base ring member. Selectively removable knockout portions are provided in the cover member for allowing connecting of the conduit therewith.
  • Passthrough Device With Firestop

  • US Patent:
    54170192, May 23, 1995
  • Filed:
    Mar 11, 1993
  • Appl. No.:
    8/029685
  • Inventors:
David P. Marshall - Chagrin Falls OH
James A. Rajecki - Broadview Heights OH
  • Assignee:
Lamson & Sessions Co., - Cleveland OH
  • International Classification:
    F16K 1738
    F16K 1300
  • US Classification:
    52232
  • Abstract:
A coupling device for installation in a building wall or floor to provide a passthrough opening for pipes, tubing, and the like comprises an axially elongated, plastic tubular housing with a radially extending mounting flange and having open first end and a second end which is closed by a transverse wall. At least one tubular coupling element having an entrance end and an exit end is positioned within the housing to extend axially thereof with the entrance end of the coupling opening to the first end of the housing. Intumescent firestop material surrounds the coupling element and fills the space between the coupling element and the outer housing. A tube member extends from the coupling element to the second end of the housing. After the coupling device is installed, the second end of the housing is cut away at the surface level of the partition to expose the tube member for connection to the associated piping system.

  • US Patent:
    53904656, Feb 21, 1995
  • Filed:
    Sep 3, 1993
  • Appl. No.:
    8/116719
  • Inventors:
James A. Rajecki - Broadview Heights OH
  • Assignee:
The Lamson & Sessions Co. - Cleveland OH
  • International Classification:
    F16L 500
  • US Classification:
    527413
  • Abstract:
A device for installation in a building wall or floor to provide a passthrough opening for pipes, tubing, and the like includes an axially open first end and a second end closed by a transverse wall. A ring of intumescent material fills the axially open first end of the housing, and in one embodiment, a foam plastic filler material substantially fills the housing between the intumescent ring and the transverse wall. The intumescent ring can be provided with a central opening sized to engage with an interference fit a tube or pipe passing through the device. Alternatively, the ring can support a tube coupling for providing a tubular connection within the device to receive and couple pipes on opposite sides of the building wall or floor in which the device is installed.
