Abstract:

A system and/or method for making a pizza pie having an outer cheese portion comprises a cutting tool and/or a cutting guide to enable formation of at least one opening at an outer crust region of a pizza pie to cause an inner cheese portion embedded within the outer crust to flow through the at least one opening, thereby forming the outer cheese portion at the upper surface of the outer crust. A cutting tool of the system comprises a rotatable disc with notches in its cutting surface to enable formation of the at least one opening in the outer crust. A cutting guide of the system comprises a generally disc shaped member with a support surface at its outer edge for supporting and guiding application of a cutting device against an outer crust region of a pizza dough.

Abstract:

A dough base includes an outer portion, an inner portion, and an impression line between the outer portion and the inner portion, the impression line being adapted to aid bending of the dough base along the impression line. The inner portion of the dough base generally corresponds to the bottom of a receptacle into which the dough base will be placed. The outer portion of the dough base generally corresponds to a rim upstanding from the bottom of the receptacle into which the dough base will be placed. Certain embodiments of the invention provide a high-walled pizza crust made from a par-baked dough base. Additional products and methods provide similar advantages.

A pizza pie comprises a main portion, an outer portion, and an outer cheese portion. The main portion includes a base crust and a main cheese portion on top of the base crust. The outer portion includes an outer crust extending outwardly from the base crust of the main portion and an inner cheese portion contained within the outer crust. An outer cheese portion is disposed at an upper surface of the outer crust. The outer cheese portion is separate from, and spaced apart from, the main cheese portion.
