Abstract:

Multiple pane window glass units of the type having abutting pairs of panes fitted between a head and sill. Particularly an "invisible" mullion assembly comprises of a pair of H-shaped vertical channels extending vertically between head and sill and interposed between the vertical edges of each abutting pair of panes so as to stabilize and support the panes of each pair, together with a T-shaped mullion, having an elongate shank with an outer tip vertically extending between abutting pairs of glass pane edges and a flat inner base extending vertically over abutting inner glass pane edges. An outer gasket is fitted over the end of the T-shaped mullion so as to be compressed between the abutting pairs of outer glass pane edges, while engaging said H-shaped channels. A centering guide positions the Y-shaped mullion at the abutting pairs of inner glass pane edges. Structural silicone caulking is applied in the space between glass and flat inner base of the mullion vertically on both sides and laterally across the joints at the top and bottom.

Abstract:

An assembly for sealing the space between adjacent architectural panel assemblies, such as window panels, includes a sealing means configured to fit between the opposing end surfaces of adjacent window panels, compressible members for engaging the sealing member and the opposing surface of each window panel, and a rigid member configured to fit in an interior cavity of the sealing member. The rigid member maintains the means in alignment with the opposing edge surfaces of the adjacent panels.

Abstract:

A multiple pane glass window unit comprising an outboard glass sheet spaced apart from an inboard glass sheet, spacer members positioned between and connected to the horizontal and vertical portions of the glass sheets to space them apart, said spacer members including a horizontal head spacer member connected to a horizontal sill spacer member by a pair of spaced-apart vertical side spacer members, said vertical side spacer members spacing apart the glass sheets and stiffening and supporting the side edge portions of the glass sheets against pressures of wind and rain and the elements, and factory-affixed gasket members attached to the vertical edges of the side spacer members for sealing the vertical space between side-abutting window units, said gasket members being adapted to be compressed between the sides of side-abutting window units, said side spacer members including a side spacer member that is U-shaped in cross-section with the legs of the U facing sideways from the window unit, a foam spacer tape adhered to the edge portions of the legs of the side spacer member and to the side edge portion of the outboard glass sheet, and adhesive layers sealing the side spacer legs to the interior surface of the glass sheets, whereby the sides of abutting window units may be sealed by placing the sides close enough together that they compress the foam spacer tape between them, and whereby the window units may be installed from the inside of the building. In the space formed between the vertical edges on the inside glass of two-abutting units and the inside edges of the factory-affixed gasket members silicone caulking is applied at the time of installation to completely seal the vertical joint between units.

Abstract:

A multiple pane glass unit for butt-glazing comprising an exterior glass sheet spaced apart from an interior glass sheet by horizontal head and sill spacers and a pair of vertical structural spacers, with the vertical spacers being constructed and arranged to provide structural support for the glass sheets against wind loads and the like and a first gasket strip mounted on a first vertical structural spacer, with a second, mating gasket strip mounted on a second vertical structural spacer, with the first and second gasket strips being arranged to contact one another along the vertical joints of side-abutting glass units to form a butt joint and being constructed and arranged to be substantially flush with the exterior glass sheets and to provide a weatherseal joint along the abutting vertical edges thereof, said gaskets being applied to the glass unit prior to installation and eliminating the need for an exterior applied wet weatherseal.
