Abstract:

A sleeve label is fabricated from a sheet of polyethylene which is folded upon itself along two longitudinal fold lines with the overlying layers then being joined together along a seal line. The seal line is located so that the outer layer of the folded sheet forms an outer flap, which may be adhered to the body of the sleeve by a releasable adhesive strip. The outer flap can be printed to comprise a redeemable coupon, or it may be printed with detailed product information, or it may be configured to serve as a handle for the product. The label may also include a tubular header of small diameter, which can also serve as a coupon, or be printed with detailed product information, or configured to serve as a handle.

Abstract:

An improved top opening, rectangular flexible bag for containing a stack of highly compressed flexible articles. The bag has front and back panels, two side panels and top and bottom panels, all of which are connected together to form an internal compartment for containing the stack under high compression. The stack is arranged within the bag in such a way that the side panels are under tension. The line of weakness defines the entire top portion of the bag which can be easily removed, thus exposing the entire contents of the bag for easy removal. The improvement to the bag is that the line of weakness is applied to the front and back panel of the bag simultaneously, thus providing perfect alignment of the lines of weakness where they intersect the side seals of the bag. The bag is further improved with a notch where the line of weakness intersects the side seal, thus significantly reducing the force to initiate the tear through the bead of plastic created by the side seal. A further improvement is that the line of weakness is applied in the machine direction as the bag is manufactured, thus requiring a simple, inexpensive, rotary cutting tool rather than an expensive, reciprocating die, and without negatively impacting line speeds.

Abstract:

A sleeve label is fabricated from a sheet of polymeric material which is folded upon itself along at least three longitudinal fold lines, with the resulting four overlying layers then being joined together along a longitudinal seal line. The two outermost layers are longitudinally slit along the third fold line. The resulting structure forms a closed tube formed by the first two overlying layers, and two overlying separate flaps formed by the two outermost layers. By adding additional fold lines and additional slits, additional separate flaps can be formed to result in a structure in the nature of a multi-paged booklet.

Abstract:

A bag adapted to receive and contain merchandise through a side opening, made from a sheet of flaccid material folded along a fold line to provide two side by side overlapping wall panels, the wall panels joined together along two spaced apart pairs of side edges and another pair of side edges, unattached to one another forming an opening in the bag and the fold line disposed inwardly between the wall panels to form a gusset with a part of the wall panels. A portion of the wall panels and the gusset protrude beyond a terminal free edge of one of the joined together pair of side edges to form a handle portion integral with the balance of the bag.
