Studies indicate that mutations in tumor suppressor genes occur early in the process of carcinogenesis, and that these mutations are correlated with a subsequent development of cancer. The detection of such alterations would provide useful molecular markers for diagnosis, surveillance, early tumor identification and intervention, and prognosis. A novel human gene, designated as âZsig62,â resides within a region of chromosome 16 that is associated with prostate and breast cancer, and that appears to contain tumor suppressor genes. Like a tumor suppressor gene, the Zsig62 gene is expressed in particular normal tissues, but not in tumors derived from those tissues.

Abstract:
A method for promoting the expression of myelin or Protein Zero in Schwann cells using Zcyto7 or IL-17. Zcyto7 or IL-17 are further used to promote myelination of the peripheral nervous system. This is particularly useful in treating diseases dymyelinating diseases such as diabetic neuropathy, Guillain-Barrà Syndrome, chronic demyelinating disease, acute demyelinating polyneuropathy and human immunodeficiency viral demyelinating neuropathy or demyelination caused by trauma.

The present invention relates to zalpha11 Ligand polynucleotide and polypeptide molecules. The zalpha11 Ligand is a novel cytokine. The polypeptides may be used within methods for stimulating the proliferation and/or development of hematopoietic cells in vitro and in vivo. The present invention also includes methods for producing the protein, uses therefor and antibodies thereto.

Abstract:
Novel polypeptide combinations, polynucleotides encoding the polypeptides, and related compositions and methods are disclosed for soluble zalpha11 receptors that may be used as novel cytokine antagonists, and within methods for detecting ligands that stimulate the proliferation and/or development of hematopoietic, lymphoid and myeloid cells in vitro and in vivo. Ligand-binding receptor polypeptides can also be used to block zlapha11 Ligand activity in vitro and in vivo, and may be used in conjunction with zalpha11 Ligand and other cytokines to selectively stimulate the immune system. The present invention also includes methods for producing the protein, uses therefor and antibodies thereto.

Abstract:
Novel secreted and membrane bound tumor necrosis factor receptor (TNFR) polypeptides, polynucleotides encoding the polypeptides, antibodies and related compositions and methods are disclosed. The polypeptides may be used for detecting ligands, agonists and antagonists. The polypeptides, polynucleotides and antibodies may also be used in methods that modulate inflammation, tumor growth and metastasis, infection, immunity, and cellular maturation.
Methods Of Using Cytokine Receptor Zalpha11 To Detect Its Ligands
Novel polypeptides, polynucleotides encoding the polypeptides, and related compositions and methods are disclosed for zalpha11, a novel cytokine receptor. The polypeptides may be used within methods for detecting ligands that stimulate the proliferation and/or development of hematopoietic, lymphoid and myeloid cells in vitro and in vivo. Ligand-binding receptor polypeptides can also be used to block ligand activity in vitro and in vivo. The polynucleotides encoding zalpha11, are located on chromosome 16, and can be used to identify a region of the genome associated with human disease states. The present invention also includes methods for producing the protein, uses therefore and antibodies thereto.
