Abstract:
Barcodes stored by mobile devices can be used in commerce. In sending barcode data optically from a display backlight of a mobile communication device to a barcode scanner optical receiver, the transmitted data bit time needs to be compatible with the frequency range the barcode scanner is designed to receive. The disclosed methods and mobile devices can send barcode data optically at different frequencies from a modulated display backlight to different models/makes of laser barcode scanners that may be used at a point of sale (POS). The disclosed are methods and devices for processing the bit time mix choices make a determination of bit time mix choices based upon predetermined criteria. Location of the device is an example of predetermined criteria. A location may have a particular bit time mix signature that may be accessed, for example, in a look up table.

Abstract:
An optical transceiver () can comprise an optical receiver (), an optical lens (), and an optical transmitter (). The optical lens can have a lateral periphery () and can be configured and arranged to focus at least some incoming light () at the optical receiver. The optical transmitter, in turn, can be disposed within a boundary defined by the lateral periphery of the optical lens and other than in a lateral plane that contains the optical receiver.

Abstract:
A method for determining annular fluid expansion (“AFE”) within a borehole with a sealed casing string annulus. The method may include defining a configuration of the borehole. The method may further include defining a production operation and a borehole operation. The method may also include determining AFE within the borehole when performing the production operation. The method may further include determining AFE within the borehole when performing the borehole operation based on the AFE within the borehole when performing the production operation.

Abstract:
Methods and systems for analyzing a well system design including determining a volume change of trapped annular regions based on a plurality of initial temperatures and a plurality of final temperatures and an initial pressure. Analyzing the trapped annular regions to determine an enclosure volume change, a fluid expansion volume, and an annular pressure buildup for a safe well system and generating a graphical representation of the bounds of the safe well system envelop.

Abstract:
A well operation simulator predicts temperature and pressure profiles of a multi-tubing completion well for well design. The simulator is comprised of modules, which when executed, determine a first set of design limits based on stress conditions arising from the temperature and pressure profiles from a multi-tubing drilling module and a multi -tubing production module for drilling and production operations. A multi-tubing multi-string module predicts the annular fluid expansion (AFE) and annular pressure buildup (APB) of the multi-tubing well from the previously calculated temperature profile, pressure profile, and stress conditions and determines a second set of design limits with the AFE/APB effects in addition to the temperature profile and pressure profile predicted from multi-tubing drilling module and multi-tubing production module. The first and second sets of design limits are depicted using one or
Wellbore Thermal, Pressure, And Stress Analysis Above End Of Operating String
A system provides thermal and stress analysis of complex well operations above the end of the downhole string to meet the analysis needs of downhole operations such as hydraulic fracturing in unconventional oil and gas field development.

Abstract:
In one embodiment, a method for controlling a liquid crystal display (LCD) is provided. The method receives a first light from a light source structure at a light emitting layer and emits from the light emitting layer a first color component, a second color component, and a third color component. The method then receives a second light through a first polarizer layer of a first polarization state positioned above the light emitting layer, a liquid crystal layer positioned above the first polarizer layer, and a second polarizer layer of a second polarization state positioned above the liquid crystal layer and converts the second light into the first color component, the second component, and the third color component in the light emitting layer. An intensity of the first light is dynamically controlled based on the converting of the second light.
