A connector includes a body having gear teeth. A first sleeve is rotatably coupled to the body. A moveable member is positioned in a hole of the first sleeve. A second sleeve is movable with respect to the first sleeve between a locked and unlocked positions. A releasable locking member is positioned between the moveable member and the gear teeth. In the unlocked position of the second sleeve, a recess formed in the second sleeve is aligned with the opening. Upon rotation of the first sleeve, the moveable member is translated into the recess as the releasable locking member travels along the gear teeth. In the locked position of the second sleeve, the recess is rotationally spaced from the opening, and, the releasable locking member is sandwiched between the gear teeth and the moveable member to prevent rotation of the first sleeve with respect to the connector body.

Abstract:
Various embodiments of a coupling are disclosed. The coupling can include a barrel that includes a communication pathway, such as an electrical contact or optical pathway. The coupling can include a nut that is configured to engage with a corresponding portion of a mating connector, such as via a threaded connection. When the coupling and the mating connector are engaged, the nut secures the coupling and the mating connector together, and respective termination elements of the coupling and the mating connector are in communication with each other. The coupling can include a torque-limiting mechanism. The torque-limiting mechanism can be configured to enable the transmission of torque up to a limit amount, and to inhibit or prevent the transmission of torque above the limit amount.
A connection system for a cable includes a shielded cable that is inserted into a backshell. Among other elements, the shielded cable might include a ferrule that is crimped between shields near an end of the cable. In addition, the backshell includes a channel that clamps around the ferrule, as well as various solder wells.

Abstract:
An electrical connector includes a housing having a bracket mating surface and an opening that extends through the bracket mating surface; an electrical conductor that is positioned through the opening in the housing; a grommet that is positioned in a space defined between the electrical conductor and the opening in which the conductor is positioned to substantially prevent contaminants from entering the housing through the opening; and a bracket removably positioned on the bracket mating surface of the housing of the connector and positioned to bear on the grommet to substantially prevent displacement of the grommet with respect to the housing of the connector.
