A system is provided that effectively obviates shortcomings of conventional, diode-ORed, redundant power supply systems by forcing a primary power source to provide power to the system load most the time, even when the primary source provides a lower voltage than that of a secondary power source. This preferential selection of the lower-voltage primary is achieved by interposing a power switching unit between the secondary power source and the ORing diode in front of the load. The power switching unit of the illustrative embodiment comprises a voltage regulator that is regulated at a first voltage level, which is lower than the nominal output voltage level provided by the primary power source. Meanwhile, the primary power source is able to charge the secondary power source, which is a battery in the illustrative embodiment, so that the secondary power source can provide power to the load when the primary power source is either interrupted or falls below the first voltage level.

Abstract:
Methods and systems for supplying power to multiple voltage islands using a single supply source are disclosed. Aspects of one method may include providing power to a first of a plurality of voltage islands, and individually controlling providing of power to each of a remaining portion of the plurality of voltage islands. For example, when an electronic system is first powered on, a low current voltage source may be used to supply power to a primary voltage island. As a higher current voltage source becomes available, power derived from the higher current voltage source may be provided to the primary voltage island and to secondary voltage islands. Power to each of the secondary voltage islands may be, for example, individually controlled via a power MOS transistor. The power MOS transistor may also be configured to allow a faster blocking time than unblocking time.
Preformed Fireplace Capable Of Venting Vertically Or Horizontally
A gas fireplace is provided including a first housing having a first upper wall, and a second housing within the first housing having a second upper wall spaced apart from the first upper wall and defining a space there between. A combustion chamber is defined within said second housing. The fireplace further includes an elbow flue for the exhaust of gases generated in the fireplace. The elbow flue is coupled to the second upper wall and extends within the space. The elbow flue is rotatable relative to the upper walls about a vertical axis.

Abstract:
In various embodiments a frame system for a surgical system may include a plurality of rod structures cross connected through one or more structural members. In some embodiments, the rod structures may each include at least one rod with an interface joint molded over the at least one rod. One or more of the interface joints may include a receiving hole for receiving a structural member to couple at least two of the plurality of rod structures together. One or more surgical components (such as a surgical console) may be received into the frame system. Other components may also be received into the frame system (e.g., an aesthetic skin). The rod structures may also include cross face structural members that are secured to portions of the rod structures through being molded to the rod structures through the interface joints.

Abstract:
In various embodiments, a caster assembly may include a wheel rotatably coupled to a caster housing and a deflector tab pivotably coupled to the caster housing and offset from an outer wheel circumference for use in moving or traversing obstacles encountered during wheel movement. In some embodiments, the deflector tab may include at least one retaining element configured to hold the deflector tab in a pusher position or allow movement of the deflector tab into a ramp position. In the pusher position, the deflector tab may push a mobile obstacle in front of the wheel motion. In the ramp position, the deflector tab may facilitate moving the wheels over a fixed obstacle.

Abstract:
In various embodiments, a braking system may include an actuator, a pawl gear coupled to the actuator, and a wheel gear plate. The braking system may further include a brake pad, an outer wheel coupled to the brake pad, and a spring washer plate configured to press the wheel gear plate against the brake pad such that the wheel gear plate is configured to inhibit rotation of the outer wheel through friction between the wheel gear plate and the brake pad when the pawl gear inhibits rotation of the wheel gear plate. In some embodiments, the braking system may further include a sensor and the actuator may be triggered to actuate the pawl gear in response to signals from the sensor.

Method And Apparatus For Automatic Loading And Registration Of Pcbs
An automatic registration system to be used with a drilling machine that automatic loads PCBs by pushing PCBs from a cart or similar carrier onto the tooling plate for drilling and other operations. The automatic registration system includes at least a tooling plate having an angled slot, a main slot, a registration block, and a pin clamp. The angled slot allows the first registration pin of the PCB to bypass the registration block without requiring the registration block to move out of the way. The pin clamp slides across the angled slot thereby clamping the second registration pin of the PCB against the registration block. The PCB is then registered to the drilling machine and drilling or other operations can take place.
