Abstract:

A wavelength selective optical cross-connect includes a first demultiplexor feeding into individually removable modules that in turn feed a first multiplexor, such that the cross-connect is expandable and repairable on a wavelength or waveband basis. The modules desirably include multiple optical components in the optical path, with components in each module matched to others in that module to provide module-to-module variation below that of the variation in module components. The modules desirably include an additional demultiplexor and multiplexor. The modules also desirably include wavelength or narrowband amplification together with power equalization. The modules may also include a switch fabric. Alternatively, the switch fabric may be provided in the form of a separate removable switch module or modules, with various technologies employed in various switch modules, including manual switching with automatic connection discovery, with simple plug-in upgradeability to modules having automatic or remotely actuated switching.

Abstract:

The present invention applies speech recognition technology to remote access, verification, and identification applications. Speech recognition is used to raise the security level of many types of transaction systems which previously had serious safety drawbacks, including: point of sale systems, home authorization systems, systems for establishing a call to a called party (including prison telephone systems), internet access systems, web site access systems, systems for obtaining access to protected computer networks, systems for accessing a restricted hyperlink, desktop computer security systems, and systems for gaining access to a networked server. A general speech recognition system using communication is also presented. Further, different types of speech recognition methodologies are useful with the present invention, such as “simple” security methods and systems, multi-tiered security methods and systems, conditional multi-tiered security methods and systems, and randomly prompted voice token methods and systems.

An optical communication system that includes an optical network is disclosed having a plurality of nodes and a plurality of optical fiber links which includes optical fiber links that interconnect the nodes. Signals passing through the network are similarly pre-compensated and/or similarly post-compensated. Abstract:

An optical switching device with a switch-and-select architecture uses a single multi-port optical channel router, such as a wavelength selective switch, as a bidirectional switching device. The optical switching device includes the multi-port optical channel router and optical circulators coupled to the input/output ports of the multi-port optical channel router. The optical circulators couple one or more output ports and one or more input ports of the optical switching device to the input/output ports of the optical channel router so that the optical channel router provides symmetric, bi-directional switching at an optical network node.

Abstract:

The present invention relates to a method for segmenting speech into subword speech segments. Optimal boundary locations for each estimate of a number of segments are determined within an estimated range of the number of segments. In addition, an optimality criteria is found for each estimate of the number of segments within the range. Using the optimality criteria, the optimal number of subwords are determined. From the location of the boundaries and the optimal number of segments, data can be clustered or speech can be segmented. The method can be used in data processing systems, speaker verification, medium size vocabulary speech recognition systems, language identification systems and coarse subword level speech segmentation processes.

Abstract:

The present invention relates to a catalyst washcoat composition comprising a slurry comprising at least one platinum group metal and/or at least one non-platinum group metal supported on at least one support; and at least one pore forming agent having a particle size ranging from 100 nm to 5.0 μm, wherein the pore forming agent is selected from carbon nano-tubes, carbon nano-fibres, activated carbon, resins, cellulose powder, and polymer spheres. The present invention also provides a catalyst article for capturing particulate matter of size ranging from 1.0 nm to 100 μm, said article comprising the catalyst washcoat deposited on a substrate and calcined to form pores of which 50%-100% have a pore size ranging from 100 nm to 5.0 μm.

B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) is expressed on malignant plasma cells. The present invention provides methods for treating multiple myeloma using bispecific antibodies (bsAbs) that bind to both BCMA and CD3 and activate T cells via the CD3 complex in the presence of BCMA-expressing tumor cells. In certain embodiments, the bispecific antigen-binding molecules of the present invention are capable of inhibiting the growth of tumors expressing BCMA.
