Abstract:

According to one embodiment, a pattern learning system includes a pattern learning tool that receives event messages in a sequential manner from multiple sensors and forms multiple sub-sequences that each includes a trigger event message, a consequence event message, and one or more intermediary event messages. The pattern learning tool then generates multiple graphs that each represents a sub-sequence of the plurality of event messages. The pattern learning tool then combines the graphs into a combined graph according to a type of each event message, and determines a causal sequence from the combined graph according to a heaviest weighted directed path from the trigger event message to the consequence event message.

Abstract:

A system for the distribution of media assets wherein first and second media player devices individually communicate with the server computer to update a database with the identity of the media assets that are stored thereon. The server computer transmits to each of the first and second media player devices information about the media assets that is stored on the first and second media player devices. As a result of this information, a first media player device may have knowledge of and request a media asset stored on a second media player device. The second media player device responds to the request by transferring or streaming the asset to the first media player.

Abstract:

According to one embodiment, determining a course of action includes receiving a problem description describing an optimization problem. The optimization problem comprises resources and adversarial objects. A resource performs an action, and an adversarial object performs a reaction in response to the action. The optimization problem is decomposed into sub-problems, where each sub-problem corresponds to an adversarial object. Each sub-problem is solved to yield an optimal sub-solution. It is determined whether there are one or more resource conflicts among the sub-solutions. A resource conflict occurs if a resource is required to perform more than one action at a stage. If there are one or more resource conflicts, a fixing procedure is applied to address the resource conflicts.
