Abstract:

A corner assembly for covering a junction between adjacent walls includes first and second members, each formed from an extruded composite material comprising wood fiber and polyethylene resin. The first member includes a tongue extending from one end thereof. The second member includes a groove formed in one side thereof, such that when the tongue is received within the groove, the first side of the first member and the first end of the second member are disposed generally coplanar.

Abstract:

A continuous sidelight threshold and door sill assembly for use with entryways having at least one fixed sidelight panel and a hinged door panel comprises an extruded aluminum frame having an elongated channel and a sloped sill. A vertically adjustable threshold cap is shorter than the channel is configured to fit in and be selectively positioned at a predetermined location along the channel. A separate panel cap is also configured to fit in the channel and be selectively positioned therealong. The assembly is universally adaptable to be used either with left handed, right handed, or double sided sidelight door entryways simply by positioning the threshold cap and the panel cap at respective appropriate locations along the channel. A removable paint shield is provided to protect the threshold and sill assembly from paint and damage during construction of a building in which the assembly is installed. Also, the threshold and sidelight caps preferably are formed from extruded plastic material and can be easily cut and fitted to virtually any entryway configuration.

Abstract:

Durable, high strength entry systems and methods for their manufacture are provided. The entry systems are formed by assembling profiles produced by extruding and then machining and/or molding a composite material. The profiles are formed in a preferred embodiment by extruding a cellulose composite material to produce an extrusion which preferably contains hollow sections which reduce the weight and cost of the material. The extruded composite can be machined and/or molded after the extrusion process to provide means for securing the profiles to each other or to glass and panel inserts. Entry systems, such as sidelights, transoms and exterior doors, can be produced from the assembled profiles which are durable and strong and therefore resist corrosion, denting and decay. The entry systems can be produced from low cost wood substitutes and provide the appearance of real wood. The entry systems can be readily treated with paint or other finishing materials to provide the desired exterior finish.
