Abstract:
An organic light emitting device is provided. The device has a first electrode, an insulating strip disposed over the first electrode, and a bus line disposed on top of the insulating strip, such that the bus line is electrically insulated from the first electrode by the insulating strip. An integrated mask is disposed over the bus line, such that a portion of the bus line remains exposed vis-a-vis the insulating strip and the integrated mask. An organic layer is disposed over the first electrode, such that the organic layer is electrically connected to the first electrode. A second electrode is disposed over the organic layer, such that the second electrode is electrically connected to the organic layer, and such that the second electrode is electrically connected to the exposed portion of the bus line. A method of fabricating the device is also provided, which involves depositing the organic layer and the second electrode through the integrated mask, such that the second electrode is in electrical contact with the bus line.
An organic optoelectronic device structure is provided. The organic optoelectronic device structure comprises: (a) a polymer substrate layer; (a) a first barrier region disposed over a first face of the polymer substrate layer; (c) an organic optoelectronic device disposed over a second face of the polymer substrate layer opposite the first face; (d) a second barrier region disposed over the second face of the polymer substrate layer and over the organic optoelectronic device; and (e) an adhesive region. The adhesive region is disposed between the polymer substrate layer and the second barrier region such that it bonds the polymer substrate layer to the second barrier region. Moreover, the adhesive region encircles the organic optoelectronic device such that the organic optoelectronic device is completely surrounded by the adhesive region, the polymer substrate layer and second barrier region. In some embodiments, the organic optoelectronic device structure is further provided with a third barrier region, which is disposed at least on the edges of the polymer substrate layer. Organic optoelectronic devices, including circuits, appropriate for the practice of the present invention include organic light emitting devices, organic electrochromic displays, organic photovoltaic devices and organic thin film transistors.

Abstract:
A method of fabricating a device is provided. A substrate having first conductive layer disposed thereon. An organic layer is fabricated over the first conductive layer. A second conductive layer is then fabricated over the organic layer such that the second conductive layer is in electrical contact with the first conductive layer during at least a portion of the step of depositing the second conductive layer. The electrical contact between the first conductive layer and the second conductive layer is then broken. A method of fabricating an active matrix array of organic light emitting devices is also provided. A substrate is obtained, having circuitry adapted to control the current flowing through each organic light emitting device, and having a first conductive layer disposed thereon, such that the first conductive layer is electrically attached to the circuitry. An organic layer is fabricated over the first conductive layer. A second conductive layer is then fabricated over the organic layer such that the second conductive layer is in electrical contact with the circuitry, and such that the circuitry allows sufficient leakage between the first conductive layer and the second conductive layer to reduce the electrical field across the organic layer, during at least a portion of the step of fabricating the second conductive layer.

Abstract:
A photoresist mask is provided, having a central region fabricated on an underlying layer. An overhang supported by the central region is separated from the underlying layer by a recessed area. The recessed area has an aspect ratio of at least about 1. 5. The mask may be advantageously used to pattern electrodes deposited through the mask by chemical vapor deposition or sputtering, such that there is no significant conductivity across the mask between the patterned electrodes.

Abstract:
Disclosed are protected OLED devices comprising (a) a substrate; (b) an active region positioned on the substrate, wherein the active region comprises an anode layer, a cathode layer and a light-emitting layer disposed between the anode layer and the cathode layer; (c) a composite barrier layer disposed over the active region and/or over a surface of the substrate, the composite barrier layer comprising an alternating series of one or more polymeric planarizing sublayers and one or more high-density sublayers; and, (d) a thin carbon layer disposed between at least one polymeric planarizing sublayer and a region of the OLED device that is selected from the group consisting of the substrate, an adjacent high-density sublayer, and the active region. The composite barrier layer is provided to protect the active region of the OLED device from environmental elements such as oxygen and moisture. The thin carbon layer is provided to improve adhesion between adjacent layers.
Methods And Structures For Reducing Lateral Diffusion Through Cooperative Barrier Layers
A covered substrate is described, which comprises: (a) a flexible substrate layer; and (b) a plurality of cooperative barrier layers disposed on the substrate layer. The plurality of cooperative barrier layers further comprise one or more planarizing layers and one or more high-density layers. Moreover, at least one high-density layer is disposed over at least one planarizing layer in a manner such that the at least one high-density layer extends to the substrate layer and cooperates with the substrate layer to completely surround the at least one planarizing layer. When combined with an additional barrier region, such covered substrates are effective for enclosing organic optoelectronic devices, such organic light emitting diodes, organic electrochromic displays, organic photovoltaic devices and organic thin film transistors. Preferred organic optoelectronic devices are organic light emitting diodes.
An array of OLEDs is provided. The array includes a first electrode that has a plurality of physically separate pieces that are electrically connected by a bus line. The array further includes a second electrode, and an organic layer disposed between the first and second electrodes. The organic layer is electrically connected to the second electrode, and to at least one of the physically separate pieces of the first electrode. The embodiment may be used to fabricate an array of OLEDs on a flexible substrate.
Organic Electronic Devices With Pressure Sensitive Adhesive Layer
An organic electronic device structure, according to a first aspect of the invention, includes: (a) a substrate layer; (b) an organic electronic region disposed over the substrate layer; (c) a pressure sensitive adhesive layer disposed over the organic electronic device; and (d) a barrier layer disposed over the adhesive layer. According to a second aspect of the present invention, an organic electronic device structure includes: (a) a substrate layer; (b) an organic electronic region disposed over the substrate layer; (c) a barrier layer disposed over the organic electronic region; (d) a pressure sensitive adhesive layer disposed over the substrate layer and over the barrier layer; and (e) an additional layer disposed over the adhesive layer. In many preferred embodiments, the organic electronic device region is an OLED region.

I was born and raised in the Clarion area. Graduating from Keystone High School in 1980. Traveled for six years running air compressors for Ingersoll Rand all over the U.S. Settled down with a job , then Sorce Inc. Working there for almost 14 years before buying a business I am still owner of just outside of Shippenville. I always thought Real Estate would be a great job. I was a county auditor for four years and enjoyed working with people so studied and took my Sales Agent License and started working for local people helping them with buying or selling their homes. Please give me a call and I would be glad to start helping you with your real estate needs.
