  • US Classification:
    2511494, 2511496, 251353, 251354, 7386384
  • Abstract:
A valve for connecting a fluid sampling device to a fluid source is provided that includes a body adapted to be secured to the fluid source and a valve member moveably disposed within the body. The body includes a coupling interface configured to sealingly mate with the sampling device. The valve member is actuated by the sampling device during attachment of the sampling device to the valve body. The sampling device actuated valve member is moveable between a first position in which a flow path between the fluid source and the sampling device is closed and a second position in which the flow path between the fluid source and the sampling device is open. When the fluid flow path is open, the sampling device can withdraw a fluid sample for inspection and return the fluid sample to the fluid source without exposing the fluid to the surrounding environment.

  • US Classification:
    13761406
  • Abstract:
A ball valve type fluid coupling having identical interconnectable parts characterized by low fluid spillage during disconnection. The rotatable ball valve is axially displaceable by cam structure along the flow passage as the valve is rotated between open and closed positons which prevents the valve from passing through the plane of the coupling connection end during valve operation and the valve exterior surface includes a flat coupling connection end sealing surface substantially coplanar to the coupling connection end when the valve is closed to reduce trapping fluid and spillage.

  • US Patent:
    50904493, Feb 25, 1992
  • Filed:
    Dec 27, 1990
  • Appl. No.:
    7/634838
  • Inventors:
    Paul J. E. Fournier - Jackson MI
Randolph L. Maiville - Onondaga MI
David G. Zander - Jackson MI
  • Assignee:
    Aeroquip Corporation - Jackson MI
  • International Classification:
    F16K 3160
  • US Classification:
    13761405
  • Abstract:
A security and safety latch system for fluid couplings particularly for fluid couplings utilizing rotatable valves wherein connection and disconnection of the coupling parts is by relative rotation of the parts and the valves are rotated between open and closed positions by exterior manually operated handles. The coupling parts and the valve handles are provided with interfering surfaces which prevent the parts from being relatively rotated and disconnected until both coupling valves are closed. Further, the valve handles are provided with security latches which permit the handles to be locked in the closed position, and prevent the valve handles from being locked in the valve open position.

  • Filed:
    Mar 16, 1990
  • Appl. No.:
    7/494644
  • Inventors:
    Paul J. E. Fournier - Jackson MI
Randolph L. Maiville - Onondaga MI
Donald G. McCracken - Horton MI
  • Assignee:
    Aeroquip Corporation - Maumee OH
  • International Classification:
    F16L 3728
  • US Classification:
    13761405
  • Abstract:
A no-spill fluid security system for couplings for use with fluids producing environmental impact wherein the coupling permits unidirectional flow for consumer use and bidirectional flow to permit the refilling of containers with specially designed mating coupling parts. The primary coupling part includes a valve located adjacent the primary part end to prevent spillage and a normally operative check valve prevents fluid flow into the primary coupling part while a secondary coupling part of special construction opens the normally closed check valve permitting unidirectional flow through the primary part. Pressure relief means are incorporated into the primary part to permit trapped fluids within an uncoupled primary part to be bled into the associated receptacle upon a predetermined pressure existing to prevent spillage.
  • Frangible V-Band Coupling

  • US Patent:
    50004875, Mar 19, 1991
  • Filed:
    Nov 20, 1989
  • Appl. No.:
    7/438240
  • Inventors:
Randolph L. Maiville - Onondaga MI
  • Assignee:
    Aeroquip Corporation - Jackson MI
  • International Classification:
    F16L 3500
  • US Classification:
    285 2
  • Abstract:
A frangible, circumferentially contractible clamp operated by a band constricting actuator for securing a pair of flange end pipe members in aligned end-to-end relation. The clamp includes a band consisting of retainer halves which are fastened together by frangible fasteners to form an envelope adapted to embrace and secure the aligned flanges together upon tightening of the actuator. Upon the associated pipes being subjected to exceptional tensile or bending forces, the fasteners will fracture permitting the retainer halves to separate to allow the flanges to separate and prevent the pipes from being damaged.
