Abstract:

A system for injecting DNA-based medications into humans is provided by the present invention. The system includes a needle-free injector with an injection orifice of approximately 0. 004 inches for supplying DNA-based medication at an initial pressure of from 3900 to 4300 psi, and then immediately declining to a level of about 2800 to 3800 psi, and then immediately cutting off pressure to terminate the injection. The injector includes an annular adapter for spacing the injection orifice from the skin of the patient. The adapter includes an abutment against which the injector is disposed so that the orifice is spaced approximately 0. 76-1. 0 inch from the skin of the patient, the adapter having an inner diameter at the distal end of approximately 0. 50-0. 70 inches.

Abstract:

A means and method to receive and store a continuous flow of data items being processed in a data processing system in which data items are received from multiple sources simultaneously. The invention provided for simultaneous retrieval of previously stored data from multiple destinations while providing low latency of the retrieved data. The invention utilizes multi-port random access memory or register arrays with fewer ports than the number of actual data sources or data destinations within the system. The disclosure teaches a means of providing the control of data flow to multi-port simultaneous access memory systems, utilizing the control paths in the memory control systems rather than the data paths in such systems. The system eliminates or reduces the need for memory buffers to manage data flow into or out of system memory devices which have a limited number of ports or paths connecting system memory to the input and output systems of the data processing system.

Abstract:

A method of delivering an injectable to a joint region with a needle-free injection system having a chamber with a first end and a second end, an orifice of a pre-selected size in the first end, and a plunger mechanism for ejecting fluids from within the chamber, through the orifice, and onto a target site. When the chamber is filled with an injectable, the plunger mechanism is configured to eject a selected amount of the injectable onto the target site at a pre-determined rate. A skin site adjacent a joint is selected. The orifice is placed in an injection position relative to the skin site, whereby the skin site is the target site. The injectable is ejected onto the skin site with the plunger mechanism, whereby at least a portion of the injectable is delivered through the skin site to intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and/or intra-articular regions of the joint.

Abstract:

A method and apparatus to selectively extend an embedded microprocessor bus through a different external bus are generally presented. In this regard, an apparatus is introduced comprising a first high speed serializer/deserializer (SERDES) bus internal to an integrated circuit device to couple an embedded microprocessor with an embedded component, a second high speed SERDES bus different from the first bus to couple the embedded component with an external interface of the integrated circuit device, and extension circuitry to selectively bypass the embedded component and extend the first bus to function at the external interface over a physical layer of the second bus. A computer bus includes a first original signal line, a second redundant signal line, circuitry connected to the first original signal line and the second redundant signal line for driving the first original signal line and the second redundant signal line so as to convey on each identical information, circuitry for receiving signals on the first original signal line and the second redundant signal line, and error checking circuitry for comparing the signals on the first original signal line and the second redundant signal line and for indicating an error if the signals differ. Abstract:

A protective sheath applicator assembly for encasing medical patient retaining belts, thereby protecting them from fouling by patient bodily emissions. The assembly includes a longitudinally collapsible tubular sheath and sheath applicator having a central segment for mounting a quantity of sheath material, a first end segment for connection to one of the belt components to enable transfer of the sheath from the applicator to the belt component, and a restraining segment for preventing the sheath from working endwise off the bar. In use, the bar is clipped to one of the restraining belt components and the sheath transferred thereto by sliding it endwise. The bar then is disconnected, and the companion seat belt component clipped to the first seat belt component. The patient then is introduced and the seat belts fastened endwise together in the usual manner. Thereafter the collapsed sheath is extended to cover the second restraining belt component so that the belt is covered and protected along its entire length.
