The temptation is definitely there when theres bison or elk right there near the trail to try to get close and get pictures, Traci Weaver, a Yellowstone public affairs officer, told the Associated Press in 2015.
According to the National Park Service, the victim was a 16-year-old girl exchange student who suffered serious, but not life threatening injuries. Park spokeswoman Traci Weaver told ABC News it all happened when the student tried to take a photo near the Old Faithful geyser with her host family.

Taiwanese student gored by bison in Yellowstone National Park
The group was just three to six feet (1-2 metres) away from the animals, the park service said, and when the girl turned her back on the bison to have her picture taken, one of them attacked, goring her in the buttocks with a horn, said spokeswoman Traci Weaver.
"It is explosive," Traci Weaver, who is with the fire management team, said of the fire. "And that's what we've seen. I mean, when a fire grows 28,000 acres in one burn period, basically 24 hours -- that's incredible fire growth."
Be prepared. Wherever you live in the Wood River Valley, at least between Hailey and Ketchum or Ketchum North, be prepared, because this fire grew 30,000 acres yesterday, said Traci Weaver, information officer for the fire. It's a beast, and so just be prepared. If they tell you to evacuate, go.
