Method And Apparatus For Performing Encryption Of Data At Rest At A Port Of A Network Device
Jonathan M. Parlan - Los Altos CA, US Raymond J. Kloth - Saratoga CA, US Ying Huang - Sunnyvale CA, US Fabio R. Maino - Palo Alto CA, US Pawan Agrawal - San Jose CA, US
Methods and apparatus for performing encryption for data at rest at a port of a network device such as a switch are disclosed. Specifically, when data is received from a host during a write to a storage medium such as a disk, the data is encrypted by the port prior to transmitting the encrypted data to the storage medium. Similarly, when a host attempts to read data from the storage medium, the port of the network device receives the encrypted data from the storage medium, decrypts the data, and transmits the decrypted data to the host. In this manner, encryption and decryption of data at rest are supported by the port of the network device.

Abstract:
Systems and methods are illustrated that relate to a dynamic configuration of rules (e.g., business rules, presentation rules, etc.) in a virtual machine environment. Moreover, the rules may be updated and used with an application that is running on a virtual machine without requiring the virtual machine to be stopped and started (i.e., restarted). Furthermore, aspects of the disclosure describe managing the visibility of dynamic rules to various applications running on the same virtual machine.

Abstract:
A flip-flop and a method of receiving a digital signal from an asynchronous domain. In one embodiment, the flip-flop includes: (1) a first loop coupled to a flip-flop input and having first and second stable states and (2) a second loop coupled to the first loop and having the first and second stable states, properties of cross-coupled inverters in the first and second loops creating a metastable state skewed toward the first stable state in the first loop and skewed toward the second stable state in the second loop. Certain embodiments of the flip-flop have lower time constant and thus a higher Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF).
