A luminaire comprising a heat spreader and a heat sink disposed around and thermally communicates with the heat spreader. The heat sink forms a trim plate configured to be disposed completely external of a can light fixture or an electrical junction box. The luminaire also includes an optic securely retained relative to one of the heat spreader and the heat sink on one side of a plane defined by a lower surface of the trim plate and extends to the other side of the plane defined by the lower surface of the trim plate, as well as a light source disposed on the heat spreader and comprising a plurality of light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The plurality of LEDs are positioned entirely on one side of the plane defined by the lower surface of the trim plate. The light source is in thermal communication with the heat spreader.
Embodiments of the present invention are related to a lamp assembly that may have a base unit that includes a base, a power supply housing, a power supply, and a power supply cover. The base unit may be operable to detachably engage a lamp unit to form a functional lighting device. Furthermore, the base unit may be operable to be interchanged with a plurality of lamp units.

Abstract:
A circuit to provide power to a load includes a first diode having a cathode connectable to a second terminal of a PTC thermistor and an anode connectable to a first node of the load. The anode of a second diode is connectable to the second terminal of the PTC thermistor and the cathode thereof is connectable to a second node of the load. The anode of a third diode is connectable to the anode of the first diode and the first node of the load and the cathode thereof is connectable to a neutral line of an AC power source. The anode of a fourth diode is connectable to the neutral line of the AC power source and the cathode thereof is connectable to the cathode of the second diode and the first node of the load.

Abstract:
A luminaire comprising a housing formed of thermally conductive polymer with an optic carried thereby, a trim carried by the optic, and a light source. The light source may comprise an LED board comprising a copper layer and a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs) disposed on the LED board. The luminaire may also comprise control circuitry operably coupled to the plurality of LEDs, wherein the LED board is positioned in thermal communication with the housing. The luminaire may further comprise a mounting member configured to be attached to each of the housing and an external structure. The control circuitry may be configured to operate the plurality of LEDs such that heat generated by the plurality of LEDs is dissipated by the copper layer of the LED board.
