Abstract:
Compounds having biocidal and antirust properties which constitute the reaction product of (a) a benzotriazole compound having the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen or an alkyl group containing from about 1 to about 6 carbon atoms and (b) a water soluble base, characterized by a basicity greater than that of said benzotriazole compound, such as an alkali metal hydroxide or a hydrocarbyl amine. Lubricant compositions are also provided containing biocidal and antirust amounts of the aforenoted reaction product.

Abstract:
Synthetic esters or mixtures thereof, containing a free hydroxyl group in the molecule, are useful as lubricants for internal combustion engines, preferably in combination with synthetic hydrocarbon fluids. The composition, when used to lubricate an internal combustion engine, reduces the fuel consumed by such engine.

Abstract:
Improved asphalt compositions are provided which are produced by forming a homogeneous blend of marginal asphalt stock with coal-derived asphaltenes, and air-blowing the homogeneous blend to yield an asphalt composition having a viscosity-penetration index higher than about 2. 5. times. 10. sup. 5.
